Ode to Bones
Fosamax
or Estrogen?
Of these I cannot choose
Hormones don't agree with me
I've got the bone density blues
Take
your calcium, they say
That's all very fine - but whose?
Injections? Pills? Or Tootsie rolls?
I've got the bone density blues
And
what is all this TOFU stuff?
And soy? And Flax? No Booze?
Is beef a relic of the past?
I've got the bone density blues
But
hey: I like to pump my iron
And dance the ole one-two
Walking out of doors is fun
And makes me feel like new
These
fruit and vegetables taste great
As nature's bounty should
Grains, porcini, and olive oil
Can only do me good
And
maybe when you lessen stress
You're on the road to happiness
Sit; relax; read, just be
Massage or yoga, some tai chi.
And if I need to take some pills
I'll find the mix to cure my ills;
It may take time, but that's okay
I'm getting stronger, day by day
To
strengthen each and every bone
Create a cocktail all your own;
Eat smart, work out, feel well and say
I am a healthier 'me' today.
